Chapter 10

1. Why does Peeta reveal his love for Katniss? Do you think he really loves her? Why or why not?

Peeta reveals his love for Katniss because he wanted her to know. I think that Peeta really likes Katniss. Peeta really likes Katniss because he is always asking her questions about her. One of the questions Peeta asked Katniss was if she had a relationship with Gale.

2. What is Peeta’s main concern during the hunger games?

Peeta's main concern was just to die. Peeta wants to die because he doesn't want to kill anybody until it is necessary. Peeta also wants to die because if he and Katniss are the ones who survive he doen't want to kill Katniss. Peeta doesn't want to kill Katniss because he really likes her.

3. How does the Capitol view the previous arenas of the hunger games? How many games have there been?

The capitol view the previous arenas of the hunger games because theres alot of cameras. Theres been 74 games.

4. What do you feel is the purpose of the hunger games?

I feel the purpose of the hunger games is something to see which District is better and stronger. I also think it is a entertainment for people.

Chapter 9

1. Describe Katniss’ interview attire and training? What affect do you think it had on the audience?

Katniss' attire was a dress completely covered in precious gems, red, yellow, and white with bits of blue. Katniss' training was tough because Haymitch didn't know how to describe Katniss even though he asked her fifty questions.The affect that i think that affected the audience was that Katniss didn't know what to say because she was nervous. Katinss was stage frightened because there was a lot of people.

2. How does Haymitch and Cinna ask Katniss to behave?

Haymitch tells Katniss to lie. Cinna tells Katniss to be herself and try to tell the truth.Cinna also tellsKatniss even though she says a lie the truth is horrible just try it.

3. What do we discover about Peeta during his interview?

What we discover in Peeta's interview is that he said out loud that he likes Katniss. Peeta said that has liked Katniss ever since he can remember.

Chapter 8

1. What do the scores in the trainings mean to the tributes? What scores do Peeta and Katniss receive?

The scores in the training gives the tributes sponsors.Peeta's score was 8, but Katniss's score was 11. The scores depended on how well they did in their training.

2. How did Katniss and Gale meet? Describe their story.

Katniss and Gale meet in the woods. Gale had just lost his father the same way that killed Katniss's father. Gale thought that Katniss was going to steal one of his rabbits gale had trapped. Katniss wasn't trying to steal one of the rabbits.She just wanted to see how he setup a snare. Katniss told Gale that she will get him a bow if he had something to trade with her. Katniss wanted to learn how to set up a snare.They both shared their intelligence. Katniss and Gale became hunting partners without telling each other that they were.They divided the work (hunting).They made sure that they gave their families food to eat.

Chapter 7

1. What are the pros and cons of Peeta and Katniss being coached together?

The pro's are that someone will know the others persons secret skill and strength so someone will know how your gonna have to kill that person. The con's are for being trained together are that you'll have to get trained at the same speed even though if one is better than the other one.

2. What reasons does Peeta give for thinking Katniss will be better than him in the arena?

The reason that Peeta thinks that Katniss will be better in the arena is because he knows that Katniss is good at aiming with a bow and arrow. I think Katniss is very good at the bow and arrow because she's been good at hunting for years. Gale doesn't really have any experiencein hunting, but Katniss is good at it so she could teach Gale.

3. What are Career Tributes and how are they a threat?

The career tributes that there are projects arrogance and royalty.They is a threat because they make them do a lot of skills and training exercises.

4. What does Katniss do to get the Gamemakers' attention?

She got the game makers attention by throwing an arrow and sending it to the gamemakers table . The arrow skewers the apple in the pigs mouth and it pins it into to the wall. Katniss gets their attention, but she leaves without anyones permission or dismissal.

1. What is an Avox? How does Katniss know the Avox?

An Avox is someone who has committed a crime. Katniss doesn't really know who and what is the avox, but she knows that she has a some bad memory associated with her. Katniss tries to remember the avox until Peeta says that she looks a lot like this girl named Kelly Cartwright. Peeta says that Kelly is this girl who may be the most friendliest person on the planet. Peeta know's her from school. Peeta says that Kelly always says hi to everybody in school. Peeta says that Kelly looks like the avox except that she has yellow hair and the avox has red hair.  Peeta says that there is something about her eyes to that look familiar.

2. What prevents tributes from jumping off the roof? Why do you think this is in place?

What prevents the tributes from jumping off the roof is the electric field that throws you back into the the roof .The glectric field is in a place so that the tributes will kill themselves before the hunger games starts.

3. What reasons would Peeta have for being curious about Gale?

The reason that Peeta might have with Gale is that maybe that he might like Katniss.  Peeta is asking those questions because he wants to know if Gale likes Katniss and if Katniss likes him back. Petta wants to know more about Katniss and Gale and thier relationship with each other.

Chapter 5

1. The presentation of the tributes seems to be greatly focused on visual presentation and looks — what does this reveal about the belief systems of the Capitol?

It reveals that all the people in the districts dress up as how their district is or what their known for. All the districts are completely different . District 12 is known for coal miners. The beliefs system is that all the people going to the hunger games dress up as their district.

 

2. Compare and contrast life in the Capitol to life in District 12.

That the other districts are different to each other.  District is a chariot pulled by a snow white horse and District 12 is black mine stuff.

3. What does Cinna ask Katniss and Peeta to do just before they ride out in their chariot? What is the purpose of this gesture?

What Cinna tells Katniss and Petta is to hold hands. This gesture is some kind of festival for all the Districts.  All of the Districts have their own chariot and representatives.

4. Why is it so hard for Katniss to trust Peeta's kindness?

It is hard for Katniss to  trust Peeta's  kindness be cause maybe hes just planing to kill Katniss. Petta might just try to be  nice so that Katniss could fall into his prank. Peeta tryies the best to make Katniss loose and make him self win. Petta sats that the hunger games is a game of wining or loosing but not surviving together.

Chapter 4

1. Do you think Haymitch will be helpful as a mentor? Why or why not? 

I think that haymtch is a good mentor.i think that he's a good a mentor because he has been in the hunger games for a long time. Gale knows what to do so he can tell Katniss and Peeta were to go and were not or tell them how to survive the hunger games. I also think it is helpfull for Katniss and Petta because it will lead a susessfull game wich will make Katniss and Petta win.

2. What does Katniss mean when she says: “A Kind Peeta Mellark is far more dangerous to me than an unkind one”?

What Katniss means is that if Petta is nice to her that Katniss will get attached to him and she wont try to kill him. Petta might want to kill Katniss. Petta might look like a person who doesn't kill but it looks like if he is a killer.

3. What happens to convince Haymitch that Peeta and Katniss might be fighters?

What happens to convince haymitch is that Petta lasses out a glass of water and it slaters on the floor.  Katniss brings the knife to the table  and tries to get the haymitch's fingers but she made it.

 

4. What is the first honest advice that Haymitch gives them?  
The 1st honest evidence that haymitch gives katniss is of their stylists and they were thinking what to do with them.

1. Who comes to say goodbye to Katniss? List.

2. What does Madge give Katniss as a gift? What significance does it have?

Madge gives katniss a little gold pin of a bird. The pin is a small golden bird and it is on a ring. It is a mocking jay.  The moking jay reminded her of her father. Katniss's dad particularly found the mocking jay.

3. What instructions does Katniss leave for her mother?

The instruction that katniss left to her mother that she cant leave District 12. She cant  leave prim alone not even a minut.  Katniss said that there no more katniss to keep them both alive. Finally she said whatever she saw in the screen she had to deal with it.

4. What act of kindness does Peeta’s dad show to Katniss? How do you think this man might of influenced his son?

Petta's father gave Katniss  cookies that she can never afford.I think that he might influence peeta by just encouraging him and telling him he will be very proud of him.

5. What advice does Gale give Katniss about surviving the games?

Gale told katniss to get a knife cuz their pretty easy to get. He also said to make a bow because that will help her survive and get some food. Gale said it was okay to get a bow even though it was weak at least it was something. A bow will be easy to catch food because if Katniss sees a animal that is far away she could just aim it and run to it and pick it up.  

Chapter 2

1. How does Katniss save her sister from the reaping? 

Katniss saves her sister from the reaping by taking her place. Primrose didn't want Katniss to be in the reaping, but Katniss said she had to do that for living. Mostly people don't think it how will a 12 year old will survive without eating until person dies of hunger. Katniss knew her sister Prim wasn't going to be able to survive so Katniss insisted to take over her place.

2. What is the boy tribute selected? How did he save Katniss life when she was 11?

The boy who was selected at the reaping was Petta Melark. Petta Melark saved Katniss life when one day Katniss was trying to exchange old baby clothes for money. No one wanted the old clothes, so while she was walking they fell. She didn't wanted to disappoint her mom and sister that she couldn't sell the clothes. That evening she was walking through the baker's store. Katniss was looking in the trash bins when the bakers wife came out and yelled at her. When the baker's wife left Petta robbed two burned breads from the side and gave it to Katniss.

3. What kind of person do you think Peeta is? What evidence from the book led you to come to this conclusion?  

I think Petta is a nice and helpful person because she gave food to Katniss. The next day when Katniss went to school she saw that Petta had a black eye. When Katniss saw Petta with a black eye she got scared that maybe her parents caught her giving bread to Katniss and she got in trouble. Katniss said to herself that she will never forget what Petta did to help her family.

4. Why does seeing the dandelion after her father's death give Katniss hope?

When Katniss saw the dandelion after her fathers death that reminded her to not be a baby cry. That flower told Katniss to be a strong girl and help her family. Katniss knew just by looking at the dandelion that her she had the power to help and make her dad proud.
